In January my good friend, Jennifer Ward, brought this quilt to me to look at. It is beautiful! We talked about different things on the quilt, then she told me she wanted me to quilt it!
I had been waiting for just such a quilt because I wanted to try some things that I had seen done on other quilts and this quilt was the perfect one!!
I started sketching right away trying to get just the right ideas to come together. Once I finally had a pretty good idea of what I wanted to do I had to choose the thread. I tried out many thread against the quilt and settled on three colors: an off white, teal, and green. And then I began to quilt. And quilt. And quilt.
I did a lot of ruler work in the background teal areas, and feathers in the off white. (Ruler work is when you run your hopping foot along the edge of a thick ruler to create straight lines. Ruler work is very beautiful, and also time consuming and meticulous.) In many of the blocks I used my QuiltCad program to ensure that the design was consistent throughout the quilt. (QuiltCad is a computerized system that run the sewing machine for you, doing exact patterns that have been programed in.)
The back of the quilt shows so much detail and is almost as fun to look at as the front is!

The quilt is now hanging on display in My Heritage Fabric (1843 Valley Dr, Ogden, Utah) in Rainbow Gardens. It will hang there for a couple of months before one of Jennifer's lucky daughters gets to claim it as her own.
