There's nothing like the County Fair! It's one of my favorite weeks of the year and this one did not disappoint!
Spencer, my youngest son, didn't enter as many things as he normally does because all of his time was taken up with his pig!! This was his first year showing a pig and he did awesome, despite the nervousness! Tina, his pig, weighed in at 292 pounds! He won first in his class, 3rd in division, and 13th overall--that's 13th out of about 115 pigs!
I entered Ryan's Harry Potter quilt for him (since he is now on his mission) and he got a 1st place ribbon! I also entered one of my quilts and received a blue ribbon.

Not only were we ribbon winners, but several of my quilting customers won ribbons as well. Jennifer Ward won a Best of Show ribbon. Lorrie Johnson, Amy Vance, and Diana Wilhemsen each received blue ribbons on their quilts. Great Job!
And finally some of my favorite winners-- a few sweet girls from my sewing classes! I had 5 girls enter their sewing projects in this year's fair: Kallie Bremser, Brooklyn Gollaher, Berklie Gollaher, Saylee Vasas, and Madilyn Vasas. They entered pj pants, stuffed owls, bags and pillowcases and won an array of blue and red ribbons. I am so proud of them. Glad they have found a love a sewing! I hope they (and others!) will enter again next year. The fair wouldn't be a success without all of these great entrants!
If you haven't visited a county fair in awhile, do it! The Box Elder County Fair runs Aug 19-26. One of my great quilt customers, Tina Skinner, is entering a quilt there! And if you miss the county fair, there is always the Utah State Fair that runs Sept. 7-17th this year.
I'm so grateful to have a part in the County Fair! Better start working on next year's entries!
Thanks for stopping by the Front Porch! Come back Soon!
