As I write this I keep thinking: Wasn't it "just last week" that I was writing about rolling down my grandma's hill??? And now it's another year gone by. What I've learned is that time doesn't slow down, it keeps on moving faster, and I'll never "catch up!" But hopefully I can try to enjoy every minute!
The farm is growing nicely. We added a beautiful red barn, 20 chickens and a mini pot belly pig named Wilbur. We just ordered several new trees for the orchard: a few new varieties of peaches, and we're adding Honeycrisp and Gibson Gold apples! I'm super excited! They won't produce for a few years, but that will happen in a blink of an eye. We are also building a greenhouse so I can start to grow my own plants, so fun! |
I tried my hand at a fun, non-quilting (but just as fun!) project in 2019. For Bode and Ollee's second birthdays I made them each a card-table playhouse. I had so much fun creating Bode's clubhouse out of fabric that looked just like wood; and added frog everywhere! And Ollee's sweet little yellow house (complete with bushes, birds and butterflies!) is cute enough to move in to!
We spent a couple week in Switzerland and Germany where we met some wonderful people, saw amazing things and had a great adventure! The trip wouldn't have been complete without visiting a couple quilt shops along the way. Germany certainly does not have the variety of fabrics we do, and the price is nearly double! But the shops and the people in them are just as great as the ones you'd find here!
In late October I decided to make Christmas quilts for each of our five children. I accompanied Rob on a quick business trip to Idaho and spent Halloween day (while he was working) sitting in a hotel room cutting out quilts and Christmas pj's for the grandkids! And I finished them ALL by our party on Dec. 6th! Whew! (sorry, the pictures are not very good)
We started a new Christmas tradition in 2019. We surprised the kids with a themed Christmas party. The theme was The Polar Express. We had a wonderful time playing games and enjoying our family. And they got to open their "baggage" to find the Christmas quilts and new pj's. The pj's turned out so cute! Black shirts with their names embroidered, buffalo plaid pants and a matching robe, compete with a bell in the pocket! So much fun! We've already started planning the theme for 2020 and I'm so excited! I'd share the details, but it's a secret!
I may have learned that time doesn't slow down, but I've also learned that there is ALWAYS time to quilt! I hope you have too.
Thank you to all my wonderful clients for allowing me the pleasure of quilting for you! I love all of your beautiful projects! Check out my gallery, I've added so many new pictures of quilts I quilted last year, thanks to you wonderful clients.
I can't wait to see the projects we will come up with this year! With a new grandbaby coming in April, I better get started on my next quilt!
Thanks for stopping by the Front Porch! Come back to visit soon!
