When you think of teaching one of your children to quilt and carry on the tradition, you don't usually guess it will be one of your sons! Although a few of my sons have really enjoyed sewing and I am sure they will create many treasures in the future. My daughter also just received her first sewing machine for her birthday from her husband, can't wait to see what she creates! She has already made many adorable bibs on my sewing machines!
But back to this son and this amazing quilt!! Ryan graduated from Weber High School this year. He is a very well rounded kid: loves basketball, volleyball, earned a 4.0 GPA through his whole high school career, scored 34 on the ACT, speaks German, is a lifeguard, and I could go on!
Now he is a quilter!
It all started when I found an amazing line of Harry Potter fabric. I casually mentioned it to him and suggested he should make a quilt for his friend Madison, who loves Harry Potter He grabbed hold of that idea and before I knew it we were starting a quilt.
I wish I would have taken pictures along the way as he learned the process. Because he is a perfectionist, his seams were amazing. He did such a great job from cutting to piecing and finally attaching borders. He put a special block on the back with Madison's name embroidered on it, then he allowed me to quilt and bind it for him.
Needless to say, Madison loved the quilt!
Needless to say, Madison loved the quilt!
Ryan is now at the LDS Mission Training Center in Prove getting ready to head to Berlin, Germany to complete a two year mission for our church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
I am so proud of him and all he does. Can't wait to see if he decides to quilt some more when he returns. Who knows, maybe he'll find some great fabric in Germany!!
Thanks for stopping by the Front Porch and listening to me brag about Ryan! Come back soon!
